“Montauk best known to the New York crew as the summer escape. The beach town is typically reserved for hot summer nights spent bon firing on the beach, catching gorgeous sunsets and polishing off a few bottles on rose. Between Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day weekend it is nothing short of what I would like to call New York City at the Beach. Gurney’s Montauk would have been booked since April and those dinner spots you’re dying to check out? Yeah they’ve been booked solid too. A million people, packed trains and running into everyone from that old college friend who you haven’t seen since you both moved to the city to that ex-boyfriend you wish would just move out of your city. Summer at the beach is great but there is something to be said for a winter weekend out east. The relatively sleepy little town has significantly fewer folks sprinting out, not all restaurants are open, only one liquor store operates after November 1st but there are pros. Waking up to a fresh dusting of snow on the beach is gorgeous. Coffee and avocado toast with a view can’t be beat. Cozy nights at Gurney’s Montauk noshing at Scarpetta followed by bundling up in robes, grabbing a glass of wine and heading off to the spa for evening shenanigans. I also recommend setting up a wine tasting at Wolffer Estate. It’s mandatory, not even a recommendation. Just do it.”
